Welcome to Untamed 101, the ultimate outdoorsman's academy designed to help you achieve all these goals and more. This 3-4 day skills camp will reconnect you with your primal roots, immerse you in nature, and equip you with essential skills to ethically and safely harvest game animals, providing you with truly organic meat.

Experience the Untamed Wilderness

Location: Nestled on a 700-acre family ranch in Coleman, Texas, our academy offers the perfect setting to teach you the basics of hunting, harvesting, and processing game animals. This primal art, practiced since the dawn of time, allows you to connect with nature and provide a healthy, sustainable food source for you and your family. In uncertain times, one thing is for sure—nature will always provide.

Accommodations: Enjoy rustic luxury with modern amenities. Choose between private rooms or bunkhouse lodging, both equipped with bathrooms and washer/dryer facilities. The accommodations are separated by a communal firepit and parking lot, offering a true Texas ranch experience. Located just 2 hours from Austin and 50 minutes from Abilene, we offer optional airport pick-up and drop-off services for your convenience.

Cuisine: All meals, including breakfast, lunch, snacks, and supper, are provided by our on-site chef. We take pride in showcasing the deliciousness of wild game, but other options are available as well. Please inform us of any allergies in the client form.

Essential Gear

• Firearm: A center-fire bolt-action rifle (.270 or larger) with a 3x9 reticle scope and 2 boxes of ammo. Rifles are available for rent if needed.
• Binoculars: Available for rent if required.
• Footwear: Hiking boots (brands like Merrell, Danner, Kenetrek, Crispi, Zamberlan, etc.).
• Clothing: 2 pairs of long hiking or cargo pants, 2 short-sleeve and 2 long-sleeve shirts, 1 sweatshirt, and 1 warm jacket.
• Cooler: A large cooler for transporting harvested meat.

Additional Fees: Rifle rental, binocular rental, Euro mount for harvested animal, trophy animal upgrade, and hunting license if hunting whitetail.

What to Expect

This hands-on, interactive field school is designed to provide practical, in-field learning experiences every day.

Day 1:

• Ethics & Safety: Begin with an overview of hunting ethics and gun safety.
• Classroom Training: Learn the fundamentals before heading into the field.

Day 2:

• Field Practice: Gun operation, target practice, and tracking techniques.
• Field Dressing: Learn how to track, harvest, and field dress your animal.

Day 3:

• Hunting: Put your skills to the test with a real field hunt.
• Processing: Once harvested, learn the skills of skinning and butchering.

Day 4:

• Meat Processing: Learn the different cuts of meat, how to break down an animal for transport, and the best practices for packaging game meat for storage.
• Cooking & Nutrition: Discover how to prepare wild game meat and the health benefits of incorporating it into your diet.
